Özet
This review article presents a comprehensive synthesis of the advancements and challenges in the application of geopolymer concrete (GPC) for bridge structures. Renowned for its reduced environmental impact, enhanced durability, and superior mechanical properties, GPC is emerging as a compelling choice for modern infrastructure. Despite these advantages, its real-world applications remain limited. This paper provides an in-depth review of GPC applications in bridges constructed between 2007 and 2024, drawing upon information collected from major databases, including Scopus, Google Scholar, and Web of Science. It examines various bridge components-such as columns, beams (girders), decks, and slabs-where geopolymer concrete has been implemented. Critical issues, including structural performance, impact resistance, durability characteristics, and the environmental impact of GPC, are thoroughly addressed. Finally, the paper discusses future research prospects and offers recommendations, aiming to equip researchers, engineers, and policymakers with insights into the potential benefits and limitations of GPC, while promoting its adoption in the design and construction of sustainable and resilient bridge infrastructure.
