İstanbul'un kent gelişiminde Dolmabahçe sarayının yeri

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, fethi ile dünyada yeni bir çağ açan ve başkentlik kariyerini 1700 yıl sürdürerek politik, kültürel, ekonomik gücü ile dünyayı etkilemiş bulunan bir "dünya kenti" olan İstanbul'un tarihsel gelişimi ve bu süreç içinde Dolmabahçe Sarayı'nın inşasının; sarayın konumlandığı bölgeye, Beşiktaş'ın gelişimine ve küreselleşme bağlamında kentin metropolleşme sürecine olan etkisi incelenmiştir. Bu çerçevede, tezde ilk aşamada İstanbul'un tarih öncesi dönemi, Grek koloni kenti dönemi, Doğu Roma ve Bizans İmparatorluğu dönemi ile Osmanlı İmparatorluğu ve Cumhuriyet dönemi irdelenmiştir. İkinci aşamada ise küreselleşme bağlamında İstanbul'un kentsel gelişimi ve Dolmabahçe Sarayı'nın İstanbul'un dünya kenti vizyonuna katkısı ve küresel kent yapılanmasındaki rolü ele alınmıştır. 19. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında geleneksel yönetim merkezi olan Topkapı Sarayı'nın hanedan tarafından terkedilerek, Osmanlı yönetiminin Dolmabahçe Sarayı'na taşınmasıyla bölge çekim merkezi haline gelmiş ve bu durum kentin kuzeye doğru gelişimini ve Boğaz yerleşmelerinin kente entegre olmasını tetiklemiştir. Buradan hareketle, Dolmabahçe Sarayı'nın, tıpkı geçmişte başlattığı büyük dönüşüm gibi; küreselleşme kapsamında da yeni planlama çalışmalarında, dönüşüm ve yenilemeyi tetikleyecek önemli bir rol üstlenerek; Beşiktaş'ın ve metropolün dönüşümünde önemli bir katkı sağladığı ve sağlayacağı ortaya konulmuştur.

In this work, the effects of the construction of the Dolmabahçe Palace -which is part of the historical development of Istanbul, a 'world city' which influenced the world with its political, cultural and economic strengths, whose conquest ushered in a new age in the world and served as the capital of great empires over a period of 1700 years- on its location, the development of Beşiktaş as well as its effects on the metropolisation process of the city in terms of globalisation have been examined. Within this framework, the pre-historic period, the Greek colonization period, the era of the Eastern Rome, Byzantine and Ottoman Empires and the Republic period have been studied in the first stage of the thesis. Istanbul's urban development within the context of globalisation and the role of the Dolmabahçe Palace in contributing to the global urban structuring and the world city vision of Istanbul have been dealt with in the second phase. The abandonment of the Topkapı Palace - by the Ottoman Dynasty- which was the traditional administrative center, and the northwards movement of the Ottoman administration to the Dolmabahçe Palace in the second half of the 19th century made the area a center of attraction and this situation triggered the development of the city towards the north and the integration of the Bosphorus settlements into the city. From this point of view, it has been revealed that the Dolmabahçe Palace, just like the major transformation initiated in past, has made a significant contribution to the transformation of Beşiktaş and the metropolis by playing an important role in new planning works within the scope of globalisation to trigger transformation and renewal.
