Bu çalışmada, heterojen katalizör varlığında ultrases destekli biyodizel üretiminin deneysel optimizasyonu araştırılmıştır. Kalorimetrik deneylerden ve biyodizel üretim ön deneylerinden elde edilen veriler kullanılarak, D-optimal deney planı oluşturulmuş olup, CaO, kalsine dolomit ve CaDG katalizörlerinin performansları karşılaştırıldı. D-optimal deneylerinden elde edilen regresyon modelleri maksimum biyodizel veriminin elde edilmesi gereken optimum proses şartlarının belirlenmesinde kullanıldı.
In this study, the experimental optimization of ultrasound assisted biodiesel production in presence of heterogeneous catalyst was investigated. Using the data obtained from calorimetric experiments and preliminary biodiesel production experiments, D-optimal experimental plan was created and the performances of CaO, calcined dolomite and CaDG catalysts were compared. To obtain maximum biodiesel yield, the process conditions were determined using regression models obtained from D-optimal experiments. Maximum biodiesel yields were calculated as 98.7%, 95.9% and 86.3% for CaO, calcined dolomite and CaDG respectively. Additional experiments were conducted around optimum process conditions to test the validity of the regression models and to refine the optimum results. The optimum experimental conditions for the maximum biodiesel yield (99.4%) in the case of CaO catalyst are as follows: catalyst amount: 5.35% (wt. of oil), methanol/canola oil molar ratio: 7.48, ultrasound power: 40 W, temperature: 60 °C and time: 150 minutes. In the case of calcined dolomite, maximum biodiesel yield (96.6%) was obtained at the following conditions: catalyst amount: 5.32% (wt. of oil), methanol / canola oil molar ratio: 7.63, ultrasound power: 40 W, temperature: 60 °C and time: 150 minutes. The reusability performances of the catalysts were investigated under optimum conditions. For CaO catalyst, biodiesel yield was found as 99.1% at the first use and decreases to 90.4% after eighth reuse. Similarly for calcined dolomite catalyst, biodiesel yield was found as 98.8% at the first use and declines to 89.8% after eighth reuse. After eighth reuse catalysts were regenerated by calcining at 750°C for 90 minutes to increase the catalyst activity. After the regeneration step, biodiesel yield was increased from 90.4% to 97.2% and from 89.8% to 96.5% for CaO and calcined dolomite catalysts respectively. The catalysts were used up eight times after regeneration and the biodiesel yields drops to about 90%.
