In the present work, the fluxgate magnetometer having properties of high sensitivity and low resolution was investigated and developed to be used in space applications. The magnetic cores responsible for high sensitivity, good resolution, low noise and low power consumption of the fluxgates were examined by changing the atomic compositions of cobalt and iron based magnetic alloys. An electronic circuit was designed in order to determine the influence of the magnetic properties of the cores on the measurement performance. The circuit having analogue structure was optimized for optimal sensing characteristics of each cores. Finally, we could achieve to get a noise value of ~1 nT/?Hz@1Hz and a resolution of 5 nT with a scale factor of 30278 V/T. The most challenging property of the developed magnetometer was its robustness against environmental conditions, like temperature. The sensor output signal shows almost no change at temperature interval of ~90 °C. Besides, the power consumption was determined to be as low as ~0.4 W.
