In this thesis, thermoelectric properties of different covalent organic frameworks constructed from metallophthalocyanine (MPc) and metalloporphyrin (MP) units with various transition metal atoms (Co, Cu, Zn, and Ni) have been theoretically studied. We performed ab initio calculations within the ABINIT simulation package that works with the density functional theory (DFT) framework using plane-wave basis and pseudopotentials. We used the BoltzTraP code that uses Boltzmann transport theory with constant relaxation time to calculate the thermoelectric properties of the compounds. To obtain thermoelectric electronic fitness function (EFF) we used TransM code. The thermal conductivity displays remarkably low for all studied compounds which is necessary to enhance the ZT value. For COF 366 and 66, we found that the presence of the Ni atom increases the bandgap. It is observed that in COF 366 a considerable improvement in thermoelectrical figure of merit ZT with presence of central atom Ni, as well as, an increase in the Seebeck coefficient. We show that COF 366 with a central atom Ni could reach a value of ZT= 0.998 around 300 K with proper stacking. As for MPc COFs, CoPc COF have maximum ZT value among these compounds with a value of 0.978 at 780 K along the in-plane direction. The maximum Seebeck coefficient values for MPc COF as follows: 770 ?V/K for CoPc COF, -423 ?V/K for Cu-Pc COF, and -315 ?V/K for ZnPc COF. The calculations showed that all maximum values are in the in-plane directions.
