Özet
In this study, equiatomic Fe and Co binary alloy was prepared under argon/vacuum atmosphere. 50Fe-50Co alloy was coated with pack boronizing method for the duration of 6 h at 800 degrees C, 900 degrees C and 1000 degrees C. XRD, OM, SEM, SEM-EDS, Vickers hardness measurement devices were applied to characterize, hardness, microstructure, chemical and phase constituents of the synthetized boride layer on Fe-Co alloy. Perfect adhesion of coating to substrate and formation of saw tooth shaped boride layer on the substrate were observed. The coating was composed of Fe2B and Co2B phases. The existence and homogenous distribution of Co in the coating was determined. The coating thickness increased with boriding process temperature. The coating hardness did not vary significantly throughout the thickness of the main boride layer.
