Özet
Uçak motor türbin kanatlarında kullanılan tek kristal nikel esaslı süper alaşımların çalışma ortamında maruz kaldıkları zorlayıcı etmelerden (yüksek sıcaklık, oksidasyon, korozyon) korunması amacı ile yüzeylerine termal bariyer kaplama uygulanmaktadır. Termal bariyer kaplamaların yapısındaki bağlanma tabakası, kaplamanın ömür ve performansı açısından kritik öneme sahiptir. Günümüzde, oksijenli ortamda yüzeyinde kararlı-koruyucu ?-Al2O3 oksit tabakası oluşturma kabiliyetine, yüksek sertliğe ve ergime noktasına, göreceli olarak düşük yoğunluğa sahip olması nedeni ile difüzyon yöntemleri ile üretilen nikel alüminit (NiAl) bağlanma tabakaları tercih edilmektedir. Tez kapsamında, CMSX-4 tek kristal nikel esaslı süper alaşım altlık malzemesi yüzeyinde yüksek sıcaklık-yüksek aktivite kimyasal buhar biriktirme (KBB) prosesi ile NiAl kaplamalar elde edilmiştir. Kaplama prosesleri 1070°C sıcaklıkta 4 ve 6 saat uygulanmıştır. NiAl kaplanmış numunelere 1050°C ve 1100°C sıcaklıklarda 2 saat ısıl işlem prosesleri uygulanmıştır. KBB proses süresinin ve ısıl işlem proses sıcaklığının kaplamanın faz çeşidi, elementel dağılımı, mikroyapısı ve sertliği üzerine etkisi incelenmiştir. Uygulanan karakterizasyon işlemleri (SEM, EDS, XRD, Vickers sertlik analizleri) sonucunda, 4 saatlik proses ile elde edilen NiAl kaplamanın yapısında gevrek özellik gösteren ?-Ni2Al3 fazının oluştuğu saptanmıştır. Uygulanan harici ısıl işlem prosesleri ?-Ni2Al3 fazının istenilen ?-NiAl fazına dönüşmesine ve kaplamanın difüzyon bölge kalınlığının artmasına neden olmuştur. Faz dönüşümü 4 saat KBB prosesi ile elde edilen kaplamanın sertliğini düşürmüştür. Ayrıca, ısıl işlem sıcaklığının 1050°C sıcaklıktan 1100°C'ye çıkarılması 4 saatlik proses ile elde edilen kaplamanın dış tabaka yapısındaki topolojik sıkı paket fazların yoğunluğunu arttırmıştır. Diğer yönden, 6 saatlik proses ile elde edilen kaplamanın dış tabakasının istenilen ?-NiAl fazından oluştuğu saptanmıştır. Bu durum 6 saat KBB prosesi ile elde edilen kaplamaya harici ısıl işlem uygulama ihtiyacını gidermiştir.
Single crystal nickel base superalloys (SCNBs) used in aero-engine turbine blades are exposed to compelling factors such as high temperature, oxidation and corrosion. Thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) are applied to the surface of SCNBs turbine blades to protect them against these compelling factors. Bond coat in the structure of TBCs is important for the lifetime and performance of TBCs. Nowadays, nickel aluminide (NiAl) bond coat produced via diffusion coating methods are preferred due to its ability to form a stable-protective ?-Al2O3 oxide layer, high hardness, high melting point, and relatively low density. Within the scope of the thesis, NiAl coatings were obtained on the surface of CMSX-4 alloy via high temperature-high activity chemical vapor aluminizing (CVA) process. CVA coating processes were carried out for 4 and 6 hours at 1070°C. Heat treatment (HT) processes for 2 hours at 1050°C and 1100°C were subsequently applied to the NiAl-coated specimens. The effects of CVA process time and HT temperature on phase type, elemental distribution, microstructure, and hardness of the coatings were investigated. As a result of applied characterization processes (SEM, EDS, XRD, Vickers hardness analyses), it was determined that Al-rich brittle ?-Ni2Al3 phase was formed in the four-hour CVA coating structure. The additional HT processes caused the phase transformation from the ?-Ni2Al3 to the ?-NiAl phase and an increase in the thickness of inter-diffusion zone. The phase transformation induced to decrease the hardness of the four-hour CVA coating. In addition, the increment in HT temperature from 1050°C to 1100°C increased the density of topologically close-packed phases in the additive layer of the four-hour CVA coating. On the other side, it was determined that the additive layer of the six-hour CVA coating consisted of the desired ?-NiAl phase. This situation eliminates the need for additional HT process to the six-hour CVA coating.
