In this study, the removal of disperse textile dyes (Dianix Navy S-2G 200 and Disperse Red 50) has been investigated. The effects of pH, current density, conductivity and, the initial dye concentration on the removal of dye have been explored as function of time. Energy and electrode consumption have been estimated. In addition, wet and dry sludge contents were determinated. Expremental results were analysed using linearized firt order kinetic model. In the kinetic modeling, correlation seen to be coefficients existed at high levels. There are two mechanisms for removal of pollutants where aluminium electrode used in electrocoagulation process. The first mechanism is the precipitation of monomelic and polymeric aluminium hydroxide species at pH values between 4 and 6.5. The second mechanism occurs when pH is greater than 6.5 at which dye molecules adsorbe to Al(OH3) and polymeric aluminium hydroxide species. In this study electrocoagulation has been effective for decolorization.
