In this thesis study, Turkey's wheat, corn, barley, rice and potato production, consumption, associated losses and food waste generation till 2030 were forecasted based on semi-empirical models. Biohydrogen generation potentials from these wastes streams were estimated based on different scenarios using the models developed in this study. It is found that Turkey's corn, coarse grains and rice production do not meet the country's demand for consumption, which is important for Turkey's food safety and strategy. It was estimated that biohydrogen worth 1.1 billon US$ could be produced from Turkey's household food wastes in 2030 and utilization of these wastes for biohydrogen generation could provide a synergistic solution to associated environmental problems. The analysis given in this study clearly showed that there is a great potential for economic and environmental gain from agricultural and food waste based biohydrogen generation in Turkey. Therefore, the methodology given in this study could be used by researchers around the globe to forecast local and national biohydrogen production potentials from agricultural and food wastes
