Abstract

Information Systems are used to increase productivity have time saving, to ^ reach correct and up-date information easily. Computer technologies are being used to obtain maximum yield from statistical data. The Geographic Information Information System (GIS) applications are being widely used, their civil uses are being searched. The study about this subject consists of eight main sections. A general information about GIS is given in the first section. Main definitions and information about data base models are given in the second section. The usage purposes of GIS and application fields are given in the third section. The application of GIS in local governments and its importance are explained in general in the fourth section. An urban GIS application is done and the necessity of statistical information is investigated. The purposes of local governments are determined and some information about the way for establishing the system is given in the fifth section. Information system design for GIS in P.C. and the properties of this program used in this system are explained in the sixth section. In the seventh section the information about Internet applications of GIS, the transferring local data (cadastral information, public improvements information, local information) used in the pilot project as tabulated data on Internet and some selected examples to reach to the parsel data on WEB sites are given. In the last section of this study, the excellense of the results which are obtained from this study, suggestions and the necessity for building this information system are mentioned.
