With the success of the Bitcoin experiment, the management and security of digital assets have become increasingly important. These assets are managed using cryptographic keys and digital signatures. Ensuring the secure use of these keys is crucial for the protection of digital assets. Threshold Signature Schemes (TSS) have emerged as a method for managing digital assets by enabling their control to be securely distributed among multiple parties, reducing the risk associated with a single point of failure. However, the transport and messaging structure for implementing TSS is left to the application level. Meanwhile, the rise of Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI), enabled by blockchain technology, introduces a decentralized paradigm for online identity management. In the SSI model, users have complete control over their identities without relying on centralized services or authorities. This decentralized approach not only enhances privacy and security, but also provides an ideal foundation for building interoperable applications and services. In this paper, we propose an architecture that leverages emerging SSI technologies such as Decentralized Identifiers (DID), Verifiable Credentials (VC) and DIDComm to provide an interoperable and message-level secure infrastructure for the GG18 TSS protocol. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
