Marmaray hattının erişilebilirlik ve ikamet yer seçimine etkisinin araştırılması: Gebze Teknik Üniversitesi örneği

Abstract

Ulaşım, tarihin ilk dönemlerinden günümüze kadar insanların günlük hayattaki en önemli gereksinimlerinden birisi olmuştur. Dünya nüfusundaki hızlı artış ve kentleşme eğilimleri, ulaşımı günlük hayatın vazgeçilmez bir unsuru yapmıştır. Bu durum, toplu taşıma sistemlerinden biri olan raylı ulaşım sistemine geçişi gündeme getirmiştir. Kent içi toplu ulaşımda öne çıkan raylı sistem projeleri, son yıllarda Türkiye'de de yaygınlaşmaya başlamıştır. Marmaray, hem hat uzunluğu hem de güzergâh açısından Türkiye'deki ve İstanbul'daki en önemli kent içi raylı sistem projelerinden biridir. Marmaray hattının duraklarından birisi de Gebze Teknik Üniversitesi kampüsünde bulunmaktadır. Bu tez çalışması, Gebze Teknik Üniversitesi kampüsündeki öğrencilerin ulaşım kararlarını etkileyen faktörleri ve kriterleri tespit etmeyi, günlük seyahat davranışlarını araştırmayı, ikamet yer seçiminde Marmaray hattının herhangi bir etkisinin olup olmadığını sorgulamayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu kapsamda Gebze Teknik Üniversitesindeki öğrenimine devam eden 274 öğrencinin katıldığı çevrimiçi bir anket yapılmıştır. Elde edilen anket sonuçları ile detaylı istatistiki analizler yapılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda Marmaray hattı, Fatih durağının açılması ile birlikte öğrencilerin seyahat davranışlarının değiştiği, öğrencilerin GTÜ seçimlerinde Marmaray hattının etkili olduğu ve ikamet yer seçimleri tercihlerinde Marmaray hattının önemli bir kriter olduğu tespit edilmiştir.Transportation has been one of the most important fields of activity of people from the first periods of history to the present day. The rapid increase in the world population and urbanization trends have made transportation an indispensable element of daily life. This situation necessitated the transition to the rail transportation system, which is a high-capacity public transportation system. Rail system projects, which stand out especially in urban public transportation, have started to become widespread in Turkey in recent years. Marmaray is one of the most important urban rail system projects in Turkey and in Istanbul in terms of both route and line length. One of the stops of the Marmaray line is located within the Gebze Technical University campus. This thesis study aims to determine the factors and criteria that affect the transportation decisions of the students on the Gebze Technical University campus, to investigate the daily trips to and from the campus, and to determine whether the Marmaray line has any effect on the choice of residence. In this context, an online survey was conducted with the participation of 274 students studying at Gebze Technical University. Detailed statistical analyzes were made with the results of the survey. As a result of the study, it has been determined that the opening of the Fatih stop on the Marmaray line has changed travel behaviors of GTU students, the Marmaray line is effective in the GTU selections of the students, and the Marmaray line is an important criterion in the residential location.
