Exploring Digital Transformation in Turkiye: Barries, Drivers, and Competencies

Özet
This study aims to investigate the perceptions of the managers in Turkiye about the digitalization; drivers and barriers of digital transformation; and new employee and leader competencies which are required in the digital age in context of Turkiye. A semi-structured, in-depth interview study was conducted on 28 managers at different hierarchical level of the organizations, those have initiated digitalization process and operate in different industries. Analyses results revealed main driver of the digitalization as “leader or manager”; while main barrier as “lack of employee competence”. According to analyses results of this study, managers participating the this survey pairs digitalization with the concepts of “productivity”, “integration of new technologies”, “the necessity of era”, “convenience” and “innovation”. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
