Hisse senetleri piyasasında Ocak ayı etkisi: İMKB'da uygulamalı bir analiz

Abstract

Bu çalışmada İMKB' da 1988-1997 yıllarını içeren bir dönemde ocak etkisinin var olup olmadığı, alt dönemlerde bu varlığın aynı biçimde sürüp sürmediği ve ocak etkisinin ortaya çıkma neden ve nedenleri incelenmiştir. Yapılan çalışma sonucunda 1988-1997 döneminde ocak ayında elde edilen getirilerin yılın tüm aylarında elde edilen getirilerden istatistiki olarak anlamlı bir biçimde yüksek olduğu, firma büyüklüğü değişkeninin hisse senedi getirilen ile 1988-1997 döneminde negatif ve istatistiki bir ilişkiye sahip olduğu, ancak ocak etkisinin bir açıklayıcısı olmadığı ve önceki ay getirilerinin ise ocak ayı getirilen ile negatif ve istatistiki olarak anlamlı bir ilişkiye sahıp olduğu sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır.

In this study, existence of the January effect in the period of 1988-1997, existence of this effect in the sub-periods of the same years in a similar manner and the reason and reasons of its occurrence have been investigated. We have found that the returns obtained in January was statistically meaningful and higher than those of other months of the year, the variable of firm size had a negative statistical relation with the stock returns in the period of 1988-1997, however this variable could not explain the January effect and the returns of previous month had a negative statistical relation with the January returns.
