Özet
The effect of facility and personel management on cost, quality and financial performance in hospitals The purpose of this article is to investigate the effect of facility management (capacity expansion management and patient admission management) and personnel management (management of personnel shortage and surplus) on cost, quality and financial performance of the hospitals in Turkey To test our hypothesis we have collected data from 860 managers of 419 hospitals via questionnaires around Turkey. The relationship between the variables is tested with factor, correlation and regression analyses. We have found that i) Capacity expansion management has a statistically significant, positive (but at a decreasing rate) effect on a hospital cost, quality and financial performance; ii) Patient admission management has a statistically significant negative (at an increasing rate) effect on a hospital,v cost performance: iii) Management of personnel shortage has a statistically significant positive effect on a hospital cost at a decreasing rate and on financial performance at a constant rate iv) Management of personnel surplus has no statistically significant effect on any dimension of performance.
