In this work, defect detection in different parts that are produced with additive manufacturing methods using various non-destructive methods such as experimental modal analysis and finite element modal analysis were examined. Beam models with different deliberately modeled defects and a defect-free sample were produced and model integrities were validated using X-ray radiography. The samples then fitted to a mechanical vibration testing setup that employs high-fidelity laser distance sensors and set under vibration via an impact hammer. The signals produced during the test were then processed with Fast Fourier Transform algorithms to determine the samples' frequency response functions and natural frequency values, and their corresponding response amplitudes for generating a system that can detect defective samples. By using this system, defective samples were identified through changes in their modal behavior, such as natural frequency values and frequency response magnitudes in those frequencies.
