Efficiency evaluation of Operations Strategy Matrix in healthcare systems of OECD countries

Abstract

Bu tezin üç amacı vardır; (i) Veri Zarflama Analizi (VZA) kullanarak OECD (38) ülkelerinin sağlık sistemlerindeki Operasyon Stratejisi Matrisi'nin etkinliğini değerlendirmek, (ii) Yapay Sinir Ağları (YSA) ve Veri Zarflama Analizi entegrasyonunu (VZA-YSA Modeli) kullanarak OECD (38) ülkelerinin sağlık sistemlerindeki Operasyon Stratejisi Matrisi'nin etkinliğini değerlendirmek, (iii) OECD (38) ülkelerini Veri Zarflama Analizi Matrisine (VZAM) göre Süper Yıldızlar, Potansiyel Yıldızlar, Soru İşaretleri ve Etkin Yönetilecek olmak üzere dört gruba ayırmak. Bu tez beş bölümden oluşmaktadır; Bölüm 1, Tezin Araştırma Soruları ve Amaçları, Tezin Önemi, Tezin Ontolojik Çerçevesi, Tezin Epistemolojik Çerçevesi ve Tezin Anahattı bölümlerini içermektedir. Bölüm 2, ilgili literatürün ayrıntılı bir incelemesini sunar ve Operasyon Stratejisi, Sağlık Sistemleri, OECD Ülkelerinin Sağlık Sistemlerine Genel Bakış, VZA, YSA ve Veri Zarflama Analizi Matrisi (VZAM) bölümlerini içerir. Bölüm 3, tezin metodolojisi hakkında ayrıntılı bilgi sağlar ve Örneklem, Girdiler, Çıktılar ve Veriler ile Analiz Tasarımı bölümlerini içerir. Bölüm 4, analiz sonuçlarını sunar ve Veri Zarflama Analizi (VZA) Aşamasının Sonuçları, VZA-YSA Aşamasının Sonuçları ve Veri Zarflama Analizi Matrisi (VZAM) Aşamasının Sonuçları bölümlerini içerir. Bölüm 5, tezin araştırma soruları bağlamında bir tartışma yapar ve Tartışmalar ve Yorumlar, Teorik Çıkarımlar, Yönetsel Çıkarımlar, Tezin Sınırlılıkları ve Gelecekteki Araştırma Yönleri ve Sonuç bölümlerini içerir. Analiz prosedürü üç aşamadan oluşur; Veri Zarflama Analizi (VZA) Aşaması, VZA-YSA Modeli Aşaması ve Veri Zarflama Analizi Matrisi (VZAM) aşaması. Tezin sonunda OECD ülkelerinin sağlık yöneticileri için, bu tezin bulgularına dayanan çeşitli yönetimsel çıkarımlar sunulmaktadır.This dissertation has three objectives; (i) to evaluate the efficiency of the Operations Strategy Matrix in healthcare systems of OECD (38) countries using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), (ii) to evaluate the efficiency of the Operations Strategy Matrix in healthcare systems of OECD (38) countries using the integration of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA-ANN Model), (iii) to classify OECD (38) countries divided into four groups Super Stars, Potential Stars, Question Marks and To Be Governed Effectively based on Data Envelopment Analysis Matrix (DEAM). This dissertation is composed of five chapters; Chapter 1 includes The Research Questions and Objectives of the Dissertation, The Significance of the Dissertation, The Ontological Framework of the Dissertation, The Epistemological Framework of the Dissertation and The Outline of the Dissertation sections. Chapter 2 provides a review of relevant literature in detail and includes Operations Strategy, Healthcare Systems, Overview of Healthcare Systems of OECD Countries, DEA, ANN, and Data Envelopment Analysis Matrix (DEAM) sections. Chapter 3 provides detailed information on the methodology of the dissertation and includes the Sample, Inputs, Outputs and Data, and Analysis Design sections. Chapter 4 presents the analysis results and includes the Results of the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) Stage, the Results of the DEA-ANN Stage, and the Results of the Data Envelopment Analysis Matrix (DEAM) Stage sections. Chapter 5 makes a discussion in the context of the research questions of the dissertation and includes the Discussions and Comments, Theoretical Implications, Managerial Implications, Limitations of the Dissertation and Future Research Directions, and Conclusion sections. The analysis procedure consists of three stages; the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) Stage, DEA-ANN Model Stage and the Data Envelopment Analysis Matrix (DEAM) Stage. At the end of the dissertation, several managerial implications based on the findings of this dissertation are presented for healthcare managers of OECD countries.
