Spot Detection on Leaves

Abstract

In this study, an algorithm is proposed for the detection of various disease related spots on leaves with a low computation cost by using fundamental image processing techniques. In the proposed algorithm, the red, green, blue channels of the color image and the standard deviation image obtained from the gray level image are used. Following this simple but effective method, the spots in the images obtained are determined by an elimination mechanism proposed in this study. Although images with a complex background are used for the algorithm test, many spots of various colors, sizes and types on the leaf can be detected thanks to the proposed algorithm.
