This research aims to determine how prepared office professionals are to accept robots as co-workers and offer guidance to organisations and robot developers on promoting robot acceptance in the near future of the Industry 5.0 era. Using the framework of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), the study explores how professionals accept robots in office environments, focusing on perceived sociability as an extension of this framework. Participants from Türkiye and the United Kingdom participated in the study to examine differences in robot adoption. A structured questionnaire, focused on working professionals in office settings, was used to gather data. It asked about demographics, robot usage or intention to use, and preferences for robot appearance. Two studies are derived from this data. Study one analysed robot co-worker preferences in the office environment by professionals. The results of this study verified the Theory of Uncanny Valley. In Study 2, a comparative method was used between the two countries, utilising three datasets. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyse the data using the UTAUT framework. The results show that Performance Expectancy, Effort Expectancy, Social Influence, and Perceived Sociability are key factors that influence Behavioural Intentions to use robots. According to the findings of this study, robots may be allowed to work in offices in the future, and human-robot co-working may lead to renewed workflows in organisations. The findings provide practical guidance for designing socially engaging robots and implementing them in various work environments. Future research directions include broadening the cultural focus and applying qualitative techniques to examine further elements that may enhance our understanding of robot acceptance.
