Glyphosate is a widely used herbicide in agriculture and is the active ingredient in many weed disease products. Glyphosate, which works by inhibiting an enzyme necessary for plant growth, was first introduced under the brand name Roundup by the agricultural company Monsanto in the 1970s. However, as a result of research conducted in the following years, it was determined that glyphosate causes serious health problems if exposed to it for a long time. For this reason, it has become important to develop an analysis method with a low detection limit and wide linear working range for fast, easy, practical and sensitive analysis of glyphosate. In this study, selective analysis of glyphosate in aqueous media is achieved through the use of a membrane containing the functional monomer vinyl phenyl boronic acid (VPBA). There is not any study has been reported in the literature regarding the analysis of glyphosate using VPBA. The study was carried out by exciting the VBPA-based membrane in a phosphate buffer system at pH 8 at a wavelength of ?exc = 254 nm and then measuring the fluorescence intensity at the emission wavelength at ?emis = 505 nm. To determine the factors affecting glyphosate analysis, parameters such as pH, interaction time and foreign ion and molecule effects were examined and the conditions under which glyphosate analysis could be performed with the highest sensitivity and accuracy were determined. With the developed method glyphosate can be analyzed in the aqueous solution in the range of 1-18 ppb. The detection limit of the method was determined as 0.84 ppb, and the limit of quantification was found to be 2.52 ppb. For applications of the sensor for real samples, vegetable, fruit and tap water are used and the recoverable percentage varies from 98.4 to 111.5. In addition, this sensor, which can respond in a short time, can be used repeatedly, and whose measurement results are not affected by the presence of foreign ions and molecules, has many advantages over other methods.
