COVID 19 salgınının BİST 100 endeksinde yer alan şirketler üzerine etkisi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Borsa İstanbul'da işlem gören, en yüksek işlem hacmine sahip 100 şirketin (BIST100) etkinlik analizleri yapılarak Covid-19 salgınının bu işletmeler üzerindeki etkisi araştırılmıştır. Covid-19 salgını 11 Mart 2020 tarihinde Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (DSÖ) tarafından "pandemi" olarak nitelendirilmiştir. Ülkemizde de ilk vakanın görüldüğü 11 Mart 2020 tarihinden itibaren hızla yayılmıştır. Salgın küresel bir sağlık krizi olmasının yanı sıra sosyal ve ekonomik krizin de zeminini hazırlamıştır. Bu açıdan, salgının etkisini araştırmak önemli hale gelmiştir. İlk altı aylık dönemde gerek salgının seyri, gerekse alınan ekonomik önlemlerin zamanlaması dikkate alındığında, şirketler üzerinde gerçekleşen etkinin son derece önemli olduğu izlenmektedir. Bu etkinin boyutunun belirlenebilmesi için BIST100 endeksinde yer alan işletmelerin 2018, 2019, 2020 yıllarına ait ilk altı aylık dönemlerinin mali tablolarından faydalanarak, Veri Zarflama Analizi (VZA) tekniği kullanılarak etkinlik analizi yapılmıştır. Analiz sonucunda 2020/2.dönem ile 2018/2.dönem kıyaslandığında işletmelerin %70'inin, 2020/2.dönem ile 2019/2.dönem dikkate alındığında ise, işletmelerin %64'ünün etkinlik oranlarında düşüş olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

In this study, the effect of the Covid-19 epidemic on these businesses was investigated by conducting efficiency analyzes of 100 companies (BIST100) that are traded on Borsa Istanbul and have the highest transaction volume. The Covid-19 outbreak was described as a "pandemic" by the World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11, 2020. It has spread rapidly in our country since 11 March 2020, when the first case was seen. In addition to being a global health crisis, the epidemic has also prepared the ground for a social and economic crisis. In this respect, it has become important to investigate the impact of the epidemic. Considering the course of the epidemic and the timing of the economic measures taken in the first six months, it is observed that the effect on companies is extremely important. In order to determine the extent of this impact, efficiency analysis was performed using the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) technique, using the financial statements of the first six-month periods of 2018, 2019, 2020 of the enterprises included in the BIST100 index. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that 70% of the enterprises compared to the 2020 / 2nd period and 2018 / 2nd period, and 64% of the enterprises decreased in the efficiency rates when the 2020 / 2nd period and 2019 / 2nd period were taken into consideration.
