STUDY AIMED TO DETERMINE PRIMARY ECOLOGICAL BUILDING CRITERIA FOR GEBZE (TURKEY) AND A MODEL BUILDING DESIGN

Abstract

Buildings cause negative impacts on environment during their life cycle. These impacts can be reduced with ecological design approaches. important environmental problems exist at town of Gebze (Turkey), which accommodates important part of Turkish industry. It is very important to minimize the environmental impacts of buildings which will be built at this problematic region. This study aims at determination of prior ecological design criteria for the county of Gebze and a sample building design which has adopted these criteria. It is expected that this building will be a model for designers and inhabitants of this county and will contribute to increasing of environmental consciousness.
