The structural properties of linear matrix inequalities

Abstract

Sistem ve kontrol teoride pek çok problem doğrusal matris eşitsizliklerine dönüştürülerek sayısal olarak çözülebiliyor. Doğrusal matris eşitsizliklerini çözen birçok paket program olmasına rağmen, bu programlar bize sadece tek bir çözüm sağlıyor eğer bölge boş değilse. Bu çalışmanın amacı, verilen bir doğrusal matris eşitsizliğinin fizibilite (geçerlilik) bölgesini kısmi olarak tanımlayabilmek için bir yöntem geliştirmek ve bu bölgeyi sonlu sayıda vektörün konik bileşeni olarak yazabilmektir. Bu amaçla, ilk önce en az bir elemanı kesin tanımlı matris olarak verilen bir doğrusal matris eşitsizliği için bir iç koni tanımlıyoruz. Sonra bütün elemanları belirsiz matris olarak verilen bir doğrusal matris eşitsizliği için bir dış koni tanımlayıp bu koniyi fizibilite bölgesini kesecek şekilde daraltıyoruz.

Various problems in system and control theory can be numerically solved by translating them into linear matrix inequality problems. Although there are numerous software packages that solve LMIs, they provide only one solution if the feasibility range is nonempty. The objective of this research is to develop a methodology for partial characterization of the feasibility region of a given LMI and define this region via conic combinations of a finite number of vectors. Towards this end, we first introduce an inner cone for a given LMI with at least one strictly definite element. Then, we define an outer cone for a given LMI with nondefinite elements and propose a procedure for refining this cone so that it will intersect the feasibility region of the given LMI.
