İstanbul turistik bilgi sisteminin tasarlanması

Abstract

Küresel rekabette ve başarının elde edilebilmesi için günümüzde bilgi teknolojilerinin kullanımı zaruri olmuştur. Ülkemizin en önemli gelir kaynaklarından birisi olan turizm sektörünün de bu bağlamda teknolojik gelişmeleri takip etmesi gerekmektedir. Coğrafi bilgi sistemlerinin sahip olduğu teknolojik araçlar kullanılarak, internetin etki alanı içerisindeki kitlelere hizmet sunulması mümkün olmaktadır. Bu tez çalışmasında Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemlerinin internet üzerinden ne gibi hizmetleri sunabileceği, bundan turizm sektörünün nasıl faydalanabileceği örnek uygulama ile gösterilerek, İstanbul örneği için tanıtımda bilgi teknolojilerinin rolü ortaya konmuştur.Bu amaçla, İstanbul Turistik Bilgi Sistemi veritabanı kurulmuş, gerekli veri tabloları oluşturulmuş, harita altlıkları hazırlanarak, grafik verilerin sözel tablolar ile ilişkilendirilmesi sağlanmıştır. Geliştirilen yazılım ürünü ile dünyanın en önemli tarihi ve kültürel miraslarına sahip şehirlerinden olan İstanbul'un turistik değerlerinin tüm dünyaya internet aracılığıyla ulaşması mümkün hale getirilmiştir.Web ortamında yayınlanan haritada tarihi ve turistik yerler hakkında haritadan seçim yapılarak bilgi alınabilmektedir. Ayrıca kullanıcı dostu sorgu panelleri yardımıyla sorgulamalar yapılıp tarihi ve turistik yerlere ait resim, video ve açıklama metinlerine erişilebilmektedir. Türkçe ve İngilizce olarak hazırlanan web sayfası ile çok sayıda kişiye ulaşmak hedeflenmiştir.Tüm bu amaç ve hedeflerle gerçekleştirilen tez çalışması göstermiştir ki; CBS birçok bilim disiplininde olduğu gibi turizm sektöründe de etkin kullanım alanlarına sahiptir. İstanbul'un tarihi dokusu dünya ülkelerine bilgi teknolojileri kullanılarak tanıtılabilir. Ancak, günümüze dek bilgi teknolojilerinin turizm alanında kullanımı konusunda yeterli mesafe alınamamıştır. Ülkemizi ziyaret eden turist sayısının fazlalığı aynı zamanda turizmin ekonomiye katkısı anlamı taşıdığı bir gerçektir. Bu katkının sağlanabilmesi için Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemlerinin mutlaka turizm sektöründe ileri düzeyde kullanılmasına ihtiyaç olduğu düşünülmektedir.

The use of information technology has been an essential prerequisite to gain success in global competition. Tourism sector that is the one of the most important revenue sources of Turkey should benefit from the recent advances in information technology. With the use of technological tools of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) it can be possible to provide better services to the Internet users. In this thesis, services provided through the Internet using GIS were discussed in detail and the effectiveness of GIS in tourism sector were investigated on a pilot project, Istanbul tourism information system.In order to achieve the above mentioned purpose and objectives of the thesis spatial and non-spatial databases and attribute tables were created for the information system investigated in this study. Acquired graphical and non-graphical data were associated or linked to each other. With the designed information system city of Istanbul that has the most important historical and cultural heritages in the world was introduced to the Internet users all around the world.Historical and touristic information is provided for many well-known places through a selection facility offered in the system on the web-based Istanbul map. Thus, pictures, videos and descriptions of these places can be reached via a user-friendly query panel. A web page was designed in multilanguage (i.e. Turkish and English) with the aim of reaching a wider audience.Results produced during the thesis study show that GIS technology offers many advantages and superior tools to improve the advertisement of the tourism sector as in many other sectors. This study helps the publicizing of the historical texture of Istanbul to the world nations through a comprehensive information system. However, until now information technologies have not been benefitted at a sufficient level. It is a fact that the numbers of tourists visiting Turkey can make a major contribution to the national economy. It can be concluded that the level of contribution can be increased with wider and effective use of geographical information systems in the tourism arena.
