Erosion is an important factor that causes damage to engine components, decrease in engine efficiency and decrease in flight safety in gas turbine engines. Erosion occurs when small particles such as dirt, sand or dust enter the engine and collide with engine components at high speeds. The impact of these particles can cause erosion, which can lead to pitting, cracking, and other damage to engine components. The secondary air system is an important part of the gas turbine engine. It is responsible for providing cooling and sealing of various parts of the engine, especially the hot part. The secondary air system typically consists of a network of tubes, ducts, and nozzles that direct cool air to specific parts of the engine. In this study, high-pressure turbine blades were pressurized with air from the blade root and simultaneously sandblasted with 220 grit aluminum oxide. In this way, the effect of secondary air flow on erosion damage was tried to be observed. In this study, experiments were carried out to observe the effect of the angle of the cooling holes on the blade surface on erosion damage. As a result of the experiments, it has been seen that the secondary air flow can have erosion-reducing effects if it is given at the appropriate angle.
