In the this study, it was aimed to control the dissolved oxygen concentration in events of physical and chemical absorption in Continuous Flow Stirred-Tank Reactor (CSTR). In this context, `Dynamic Matrix Control? (DMC) successfully was carried out. In the control study, the Manipulated Variable has been air flow rate, an the Controlled Variable has been the dissolved oxygen concentration.Nowadays, MPC comes to at beginning of the advanced control technology, which is the most frequently researched on. Here, the dynamic model of system makes predictions for the future inputs and the control actions by using the past informations. In the preliminary part of the experimental study, the delay time constants of the oxygen probe and of the proportional control valve in the system were calculated. The Dynamic Models were obtained taking into account the dynamics of all components of the system for situations where the physical and chemical absorption and experimentally validated in an open?loop system. In the first part of this study, the dissolved oxygen concentration was controlled for a physical absorption system in the pure water. In the open-loop system, experimental data were collected by applying a step-change to the air flow rate, until the system became steady state. With this data, the DMC matrices were obtained. Tuning parameters of DMC were optimized according to `constrained mixed-integer nonlinear programming' in the MATLAB environment. Two criteria, used to measure the performance of control systems, were used as the objective function in the optimization. Then, with the real-time servo-control experiments, the optimal control performance of the DMC was tested by using different set points. In the second part of this study, it was aimed to control the oxygen concentration in uncatalyzed solutions of Sodium Sulfite in the ? very slow chemical reaction assisted absorption regime?.The study was done through the stages in a similar way to the physical absorption and it was seen that the DMC could be successfully applied.
