Transferring quantum information from systems that work at microwave regimes to other quantum systems that are far apart from each other requires optical channels to minimize the issue of the decoherence effect. The intermediate systems that can interact with microwave photons of quantum systems as well as with photons in the optical communication band (?200 THz) are hybrid quantum systems (HQS). One promising approach for achieving this transduction is through a magnon-based HQS, utilizing the collective spin excitation (magnon) modes. Having the advantages of broad conversion bandwidth, low-temperature operation, and high tunability over other HQSs, encourages ongoing research in this field to improve the efficiency of this conversion process. Yttrium iron garnet (YIG) material is used for magnon sources since it is a ferrimagnetic insulator with a high spin density that can interact coherently with microwave and optical photons. More recent studies have primarily focused on planar geometries of magnon-based hybrid systems, as they offer enhanced photon-magnon coupling, and can be fabricated using well-established microfabrication techniques. The objective of this thesis is to explore the potential of magnon-based quantum transduction with planar structure solutions. The thesis will primarily concentrate on developing new designs for planar microwave resonators, investigating their photon-magnon coupling strength through numerical simulations, and experimentally demonstrating their effectiveness. Within this work, we propose and verify the performance of microwave planar resonators containing a YIG thin film positioned above a through-hole feature. The presence of the hole in the resonator structure enables perpendicular passage of the pumping and signal lights, facilitating efficient coupling between external optical resonator modes and magnon modes. Strong microwave photon-magnon coupling was initially achieved with numerical simulations which later the identical results confirmed experimentally at room temperature.
